DUE: High Steaks! A Beef Marketing Competition Application

Calling all teachers and students grades 3 through 12!

Now is your chance to teach students about nutrition, business, and marketing skills with a fun competition.

High Steaks! A Beef Marketing Competition is an exciting cross-curricular program for elementary, middle, and high school students to engage with and understand beef production. This experiential learning contest will allow your students to creatively develop a marketing strategy for a product of their choice, while learning about the multitude of agricultural careers and skills it takes to develop and sell a product. Students will also be learning about the beef production industry and beef nutrition as a result of participation.

Eligibility:

3^rd through 12^th grade students working in groups or as a classroom in Iowa are eligible to participate. Pre-registration is required in the respective grade divisions. Multiple groups or classrooms from the same school may participate. FFA chapters, home school groups, and private schools are also eligible to participate.

Divisions:

Elementary (3^rd – 5^th grade)

Middle School (6^th – 8^th grade)

High School (9^th – 12^th grade)

Timeline:

Pre-Registration is open from December 1, 2017 to January 15, 2018
Contest submissions are due by March 15, 2018
Winners will be announced no later than April 15, 2018

Prizes:

The marketing plans and/or poster advertisements will be judged by a panel of beef producers and educators (see rubric for judging criteria). The top three schools from each division will be announced as winners. Prizes include:

1st place classrooms will have a BBQ lunch brought to their school and catered by the Iowa Beef Industry Council
